Whatever the letter

What to do first.

Don't set it aside

Each notice in the collection sequence leaves less room to respond than the one before.

Find the dates

Note the date of the letter and any response deadline it states. Hearing rights in particular have fixed windows.

Check what it covers

The tax year, the type of tax and the amount. A letter can be about one year while others are also open.

Call before the deadline

Once you authorize Bridge, we deal with the IRS for you and can see the full record behind the letter.
